Richard Baker moved to Newfoundland from Toronto in 1999 and started working with the AIDS Committee of Newfoundland and Labrador shortly after. Richard has been working in the AIDS field for the past 16 years and has been dedicated to the cause because he wants to give back to organizations that have helped him through the years. His skills and experience include housing, treatment information, skills building, mentoring, medicinal marijuana program, prevention education, program development, rural issue, advocacy, stigma, discrimination and support. As a person living with HIV for over 18 years now, he knows the long term effects of this disease. He has and still is working with such organizations as Positive Youth Outreach, Toronto PWA Foundation, AIDS Committee of Toronto, AIDS Committee of Windsor where he is originally from, Ontario AIDS Network, Canadian AIDS Society, Canadian Treatment Action Council, Independent Living Resource Center and the Newfoundland and Labrador Positive People Network.

Richard became involved in CTAC a few years ago as the Newfoundland and Labrador Representative to Council and was appointed to the Board of Directors in December of 2006.
